• To count how many people use the app and come back to it, as totals only

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely in MongoDB databases with encryption at rest and in transit. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
• Secure authentication using Microsoft Teams SSO or NextAuth
• Rate limiting to prevent abuse
• Regular security updates and monitoring
• Access controls to limit who can view your data

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate our application:

• Anthropic Claude AI: To write word meanings, example sentences and practice questions, and to check your answers and Word Log entries. We send it the words, and the explanations and Word Log entries you type so they can be checked. We never send your name, email address or other account details.
• MongoDB Atlas: For secure database storage of your account and learning data.
• Vercel: To host the app and deliver it to your browser.
• Google: If you sign in with Google, Google's privacy policy also applies.
• Microsoft: If you sign in with Microsoft or use the app within Teams, Microsoft's privacy policy also applies.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except:

• With your consent
• To comply with legal obligations
• To protect our rights and prevent fraud
• With service providers who help us operate the app (they are bound by confidentiality agreements)

Your school: If you belong to a school, your school's teachers can see your learning progress, how much you have practised and how many words are in your Word Log. Other users cannot see your progress.

Children's Privacy

Our service is designed for students. We are committed to protecting children's privacy. If you are under 13, please ensure you have parental or your school consent before using this application. Parents can contact us to review, modify, or delete their child's information.

You have the right to:
